Royal Research Ship (RRS) Discovery was built in Dundee in 1900. Launched in 1901, her first mission was the National Antarctic Expedition (1901-04), carrying Capt. Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their first 'Discovery Expedition'.
